The Institute of Politics at Florida State University (IOP@FSU) will host U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) as the next guest of its “Speaker Series” of webinar-style conversations at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6.
Sen. King is one of only two independent U.S. Senators and has represented Maine since 2013. Prior to his service in the Senate, he served as the independent governor of Maine from 1995 until 2003.
The discussion will be moderated by IOP Director Hans Hassell, with questions facilitated by IOP student fellows. The conversation will focus on public service, bipartisanship, civility in politics and King’s admonition for more “eloquent listening.”
“I am incredibly proud of the progress made and ground covered through IOP’s Speaker Series,” said IOP Director Hans Hassell. “Every guest has served to both educate and motivate listeners while demonstrating the critical import of civil discourse in politics. I am looking forward to hosting Sen. King and anticipate yet another insightful conversation.”
